The Jeffrey Francis Foundation was set up in response to the funding cuts in our local authorities to music.
Mr Francis has been and still is a pillar of support to youth music.
Music plays a vital role in ensuring the aspiration of the next generation to achieving its successes. Nearly everyone enjoys music, whether by listening to it, singing, or playing an instrument. Academic talent, albeit an entry through the discipline of Music, wasn’t and isn’t bound by affluence. It was always accessible to all for very little relative cost. What will happen to the next generation when opportunities such as social up-skilling through academic discipline ‘on a grand and costless scale’ has been taken from them? It is because of these cuts and the evidence of the vital role music plays, that the foundation offers both bursaries and the competition.
“When young children are consistently engaged by music in an age-appropriate, socially accepting environment, they benefit at many levels including social-emotional, physical, creative, quantitative and early literacy. And of course they develop a lifelong love of music.”
The foundation also runs the Jeffrey Francis scholarship competition. The competition is open to music students across Bridgend Caerphilly merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf aged between 13 and 18 above grade 5 standard. To apply for a bursary or for the competition please complete an application/competition form. Available soon.
The Jeffrey Francis Foundation offers music bursaries up to £200. Further information available soon.
